About VB RAGS Volleyball Academy

Over the past 10 years, no other Junior Volleyball Club in New Jersey has accomplished more, including several regional championships in multiple age groups, winning national qualifiers, and even developing players who went on to become All Americans at the NCAA level.

If you’re considering playing club volleyball in the 2024-25 season, our Pre Try Outs Evaluation Clinics are a great way to grow your skills, meet our coaches, and learn about our club culture, so you can determine if this is the right club for you next season.

Our Junior Volleyball Club Program Description

Through Best-In-Class Volleyball Training, our passion for the sport, and our Values-Based approach to teaching and coaching the game, since 2016, VB RAGS Volleyball Academy has been the #1 Junior Volleyball Club in New Jersey, has built a reputation as one of the top Clubs operating in the Tri-State Area, and has won multiple Regional Championships in the process.  We offer different programs, with different levels of time and financial commitment, to ensure every player has an opportunity to train and compete within the program that best fits their needs.  What all our programs have in common is a commitment to excellence, in a fun, supportive, yet challenging environment that will  allow each player to fall in love with the sport while learning life-long lessons that will serve them well both on and off the court.

For GIRLS: The regular Indoor Club season begins in early November, and ends in late April. For teams qualifying to Nationals, the season ends the first week in July.

For BOYS: The regular Indoor Club season begins in late September through the end of February.  For teams qualifying to Nationals, the season ends in June.

NATIONAL TEAMS:

National Level teams: Our National-Level teams train to compete at the national level so as to allow our players to measure themselves against the best players in the US, while providing them exposure to college scouts at major events. Most, but not all, of our National-Level team players have the goal of playing at the collegiate level. Some have no plans to play in college but still want to compete and train at the highest level they can. We train our players in the same way NCAA programs train theirs; high intensity practices where discipline, effort, accountability, performance, commitment, and the rest of our core values guide our every step. As competitive as our culture is, we provide and foster an environment that is fun and supportive in order to enhance self-esteem and create human bonds that transcend the volleyball court.
Our National - Level teams’ competition schedules are crafted according to the team’s and individual development needs. In a given season, these teams usually play 4-5 local events and 4-6 multi day events, including one or more national qualifiers. It is possible that one or more tournaments will require air travel, but it varies from team to team, from season to season.  Having our players compete outside our region is an important contributor to their individual and collective development.

National-Level teams  practice 2-3 times per week, and occasional extra practices are added from time to time as determined by the coaching staff, depending on the teams’ needs

REGIONAL TEAMS:

The focus of our regional teams is to compete within the Garden Empire Region, in key tournaments where our players can measure themselves against some of the best players in GEVA. We train our local teams the same way we train our travel teams, with a focus on building technical and tactical excellence, in the same supportive, and values-driven environment. Our commitment to best in class training cuts across all levels of our club.
Our Regional-level teams typically participate in 3-4 single day and 3-4 multi day events throughout the season.  All of the multi day tournaments will be within driving distance.  Depending on the relative strength of each team, our Regional teams may participate in the higher division of a tournament (called “Open Division”), or on the beginner/intermediate-level division (called “Club Division”).

Our Regional-level teams practice 2 times per week, each practice is 2 hours long.

REgional Multi-sport athlete (MSA) Teams:

Our Regional MSA teams will practice once per week and will play in 3-4 single day tournaments.  These teams are a great alternative for players who want to train and compete at a high level but for a variety of reasons cannot commit to a full National or Regional practice/tournament schedule. Some of these players are multi sport athletes whose availability is limited during portions of the long club vb season. Some players live too far from our facility to be able to commute to and from Randolph more than once per week.
While they cannot commit to a full club schedule, these athletes are still looking for best in class volleyball training and for the opportunity to compete in high level tournaments that will allow them to grow in the sport.

These teams will practice once per week, for 2hrs per practice; and will participate in 4 single day events (approximately one per month Jan - April)

HOW ARE AGE DIVISIONS DEFINED?

The easiest way to figure out what age division your daughter/son is eligible to play is with this simple rule:

What age will your child be on or before June 30th of the season you are trying out for?

Example:

  • If you child turns 14 on or before June 30, 2025, then your child is eligible to play in the 14 Age division or above. Players can play up, but cannot play down.
  • If you child is 13 at tryouts, but turns 14 on or before June 30th, then your child is not eligible to play in the 13U age division.
